Among the opportunities available are themed walks and nature trails in the valley, delightful hikes from hut to hut through the mountain pastures or adventure tours to some of the many 3000 m peaks around the Zillertal. Eleven cable railways run during the summer, taking you to the best starting points for unforgettable tours and making it easy for families to get up into the mountains.
There are numerous guided tours for those who prefer not to explore the Zillertal mountains unaccompanied. A pioneer in this field is Peter Habeler, from Mayrhofen – an extreme mountaineer and mountain professor - who became world famous as the first person to climb Mount Everest without oxygen. He is in high demand as a mountain guide and as part of the summer programme guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an alpine walk with him (Alpinwanderung mit Peter Habeler) in the high mountain region of the nature park in the Zillertal Alps.
And here’s a little tip: A daily return trip with the Zillertal summer cable railways is included in the “Zillertal Activcard”, along with many other advantages.
